Pantry Paradise
Pantries, much like garages, are often a nexus of chaos in the house. Multiple family members, including children, often go in and add a little more entropy into the universe. Because of this chaos, it is easy to lose money by letting things expire, or by buying an item you already have. This is a space where the photos really show you just how much a space can change.
Like most jobs, this started with a survey of the space. This pantry is in a household of four, including two children, so things need to be labeled and zones need to be as obvious as possible.
There was already fantastic adjustable shelving in the space, and it was still a mess. Don’t worry, this is normal, and it is fixable!
The client chose to remove everything from the pantry before I showed up for this job, and do the shopping for the bins on her own with me simply making suggestions on what would work for the look she wanted.
Once we started, the it was a LOT of sorting everything into categories and getting rid of expired/unwanted items.
After sorting, we boxed and labeled everything. She didn’t want to see a bunch of clutter, so we chose some nice hyacinth woven bins in order to contain the chaos. Clip-on label holders were added at a later date.
