Pantry Paradise

Pantries, much like garages, are often a nexus of chaos in the house. Multiple family members, including children, often go in and add a little more entropy into the universe. Because of this chaos, it is easy to lose money by letting things expire, or by buying an item you already have. This is a space where the photos really show you just how much a space can change.

  • Like most jobs, this started with a survey of the space. This pantry is in a household of four, including two children, so things need to be labeled and zones need to be as obvious as possible.

  • There was already fantastic adjustable shelving in the space, and it was still a mess. Don’t worry, this is normal, and it is fixable!

  • The client chose to remove everything from the pantry before I showed up for this job, and do the shopping for the bins on her own with me simply making suggestions on what would work for the look she wanted.

  • Once we started, the it was a LOT of sorting everything into categories and getting rid of expired/unwanted items.

  • After sorting, we boxed and labeled everything. She didn’t want to see a bunch of clutter, so we chose some nice hyacinth woven bins in order to contain the chaos. Clip-on label holders were added at a later date.
